Oct 07,  · Oar was certainly not the album anyone expected from this psychedelic San Francisco hipster, an album that was released in February of ’69 by the major label Columbia, with absolutely zero promotion, and perhaps a bit of indifference, with Spence riding on his name and past reputation alone/5(98).

The Canadian-born Alexander 'Skip' Spence was the co-founder of Moby Grape, and played guitar with them until In the same year he released his only solo album: Oar. The album was recorded after Spence had spent six months in a mental institution following a delusion-driven attempt to attack his Moby Grape band mates with a fire axe, after having ingested LSD.

Onetime Jefferson Airplane and Moby Grape member Skip Spence's visionary solo album is one of the great cult classic records of all time. Along with the entire original release-restored from the original two-track master tapes for the first time on CD-and the five bonus tracks that showed up on the previous CD release are five NEWLY DISCOVERED tracks/5(99).

War In Peace Lyrics: It's a joy to know you're resting in peace / War in peace, what a funny combination / Will come to separation / Since you believe / Good old spice it's nice to see you last.
